The Best Vegas/SoCal Vegan Spots

Will someone PLEASSEEEE tell me why I’m still living in dreary, cold Boston when I could be living on the beach in San Diego?

Every year, I make a trip to Vegas to work for my old job, where some of my closest friends still work. Such a grueling five days in Vegas, but plenty of time to have a little fun. And most of my fun revolved around finding delicious spots to eat since most of our events were anti veg-friendly. I found so truly amazing spots that offered alot of dishes I’d never tried before, many of which are hidden jewels along the strip. All of them, I hope to recreate in the near future. Check out our faves here and let us know if you’ve been there or will be visiting Vegas soon!

These incredible quinoa crusted baked avocado tacos at Border Grill were INSANE. My first meal after a long day, and it was perfection. It’s the only veg option they have but it is worth the trip! I’ll be making my own version in the very near future.

My first full day working was brutal. 10 miles walked in heels and I was in excruciating pain and was overly exhausted. Nothing being able to eat anything in the morning or for lunch meant I didn’t have this killer Gardein Meatless Meatball Sub with Daiya from Slice of Vegas until almost dinner. I housed this thing in about 30 seconds. I was probably moaning while eating it and didn’t care. It was the best thing to happen to me that day. And that’s saying alot because I was at a party later on in the day where we got unlimited roller coasters rides and open bar. Enough said.

Slice of Vegas has a hugeeeee vegan menu so there are plenty options ar a decent price-big potions, too!

Now for my favorite. Amazing margaritas and a full vegan menu make’s Hussong’s Cantina the best place I ALWAYS eat at in Vegas. Every year, I look forward to their blackberry ginger margaritas, and again, a Gardein and Daiya pairing in their veggie quesadilla. Spot on.

Another little treat I stumbled upon was Citizens Kitchen & Bar. We passed by this place everyday and I never knew that had an awesome juice/smoothie assortment. I got the Ginger Snap every single morning and it was exactly what I needed after long nights of working/partying.

Sensi at The Bellagio has a great tofu “scallops” dish which I thought was innovative, though maybe not worth the price. It was delish, but three little pieces of tofu over some rice and veggies shouldn’t exactly be a wallet-buster. A for effort though, especially in such a meat-centric restaurant!

Oh, San Diego. You’ll be my home eventually. Every street is filled with tons of amazing vegan options. So many in fact, I found myself super stressed out about where exactly to dine every day. I get overwhelmed easily and there are literally hundreds of possibilities just in the SoCal region. Not a terrible problem to have though considering I can pretty much list all the vegan spots in Boston on one hand. So enjoy my endless veg faves in Cali!

Native Foods Cafe is killing it. I went twice. I had to. I dreamt about their menu, it was that incredible. Just check it out yourself. I’m getting worked up just thinking about how there’s not a location near me in MA. But definitely try their buffalo twister wrap and jerk tempeh Caribbean kale salad.

The Veggie Grille is on the same level as Native with multiple locations I went to multiple times. Their Santa Fe Chickn sandwich is so legit, it might terrify you. Their homemade kombucha is the best I have ever had. And their fries. They are a godsend.

Yay for so many vegan pizza options! Daiya is everywhere is SoCal and though I avoid it in my own cooking, I love it when I’m out to eat. Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza had my favorite-and the best deals on vino 🙂

I never make a visit to SD without spending a lot of time in La Jolla. The views can’t be beat, and neither can the ooutdoor seating at Jose’s Courtroom. They have dope authentic Mexican dishes which can easily be altered to be made vegan. I always get the Baja Bowl…and three baskets of their addictive chips. This place is the reason I can’t stand Chipotle or Margaritas anymore.
