Union Square Donuts

If you follow any of my social media accounts, you have seen these incredibly amazing donuts ALL.OVER.THE. PLACE.

How had I never been to Union Square Donuts before this past weekend?! I feel like I’ve been missing out my entire (vegan) life.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a donut. It has to have been at least three years. And honestly, I can never remember a donut tasting as unreal as the ones I indulged in yesterday.

My favorite vegan on earth, Arikka, is sadly leaving me to go back home to Seattle. Which, though I am happy for her, I am sad that she’s leaving me to be the only vegan freak in our group of friends. Luckily, I’m in her upcoming wedding this summer, which means I get to visit, not one, but two, vegan havens in July-Seattle AND Portland. I feel like Arikka will have SO many more mind-blowing donut places to bring me, and so I felt like she and I HAD to go to a really great vegan spot in Boston before she heads back to the West coast. And I think that spending a Sunday morning at Union Square Donuts, binging on their chocolate sprinkle and pink lemonade was just about the most perfect thing we could have done together.

This place is MOBBED on the weekends, and it’s no shock that they’re so popular. Even the non-vegan options had me absolutely drooling at the counter, while we waited in a long, long line. Luckily the place was cute, the atmosphere was uplifting and the prospect of delicious donuts made it hard to be mad about waiting for so long. I don’t even have accurate words to describe how insane their donuts were. Light. Air. Fluffy. Chewy. Rich. Perfectly sweet. Buttery, even? I don’t know what they’re doing at USD, but whatever it is, had me addicted from the first bite.

I will happily make the trek back there any weekend morning, especially now that the weather’s finally perking up. And hopefully, Arikka and I can revisit any time she’s back in town 🙂
