Guest Blogger: kitchen + kraft’s Pumpkin Pie Smoothie Bowl

If you’ve seen 99% of my social media and blog posts the past few months, you’ll notice a gorgeous, hand-dyed napkin in most of my shots. For some reason, every plate, every spoon, every foodie pic EVER, looks ten times better with a kitchen + kraft item in the shot.

The beautiful, locally-crafted towels, bags and pillows from k + k are sold, designed and hand-made by the awesome Tori Kendrew, who creates each bag using only natural fibers and vegetables dye. How rad is that?!

I fell in love with Tori at a Whole Foods event over the summer and her photography skills and smoothie bowl assembly impressed me from the get-go. Which is why I HAD to have her share one of her incredible recipes with all my readers! Check out her bowl below and follow her for all the latest and greatest goods from kitchen + kraft!

I don’t know about you, but I’m a proud year-round smoothie drinker. I have no
sympathy for the weak bunch that gives up on that creamy, slurp-able green smoothie
goodness once the temperatures drop and the sweaters are pulled out from the depths
of our closets. I say put on another pair of socks, wrap that scarf tight and get blending!
Although I might be a little opinionated on this particular matter, the ingredients that I
choose to swirl into a sipping splendor do change just as the seasons do. While in the
summer it’s easy to opt for a tropical delight, fall and winter months make me long for
something a little different.
Pumpkin. Pumpkin?! You might be thinking pumpkins only belongs in patches and pie,
but have I got news for you! I’m totally crushing on pumpkin smoothies and I have no
doubt that you will be to. Just imagine a healthy slice of pumpkin pie in a glass for
breakfast. Starting your morning like that can only lead to good things all day long.
That’s a fact. I also love that you get a nice dose of fruit and vegetables bright n’ early to
kick start healthy choices all day long. Pumpkin is high in Vitamin A and a great source
of potassium, Vitamin C and fiber, making this perfect for post-workout fuel, eye sight
and cold prevention. Good for you and tasty? Sign me up!
Super Powered Pumpkin Smoothie
Serves 1
Ingredients:
– 2 handfuls of fresh spinach
-2 Tbsp pumpkin puree
-Nut milk of choice to desired consistency (less for thicker finished texture, more for
thinner)
-1/2 cup frozen figs
-1/2 large banana, cut into chunks
-Sprinkle of chia seeds, ground flax seeds and hemp seeds
-1 Tbsp blackstrap molasses
-Pumpkin pie spice to taste
Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender until creamy and smooth. Serve in a glass
or bowl. I like topping mine with almond butter and granola for crunch, but any additions
you’re fond of will take this to the next level! Yum to the max.
