Planet Protein Bars

I’m currently in Costa Rica and enjoying some MUCH needed sun and warm weather, doing tons of yoga, hiking and learning to surf!

I’m on a yoga retreat with a bunch of my favorite people from home, and my number one concern while traveling (especially since we’re one vegan, two vegetarians and one gluten-free, group) is what to eat. Luckily, our retreat package comes with breakfast, lunch and dinner included, but anything outside of that isn’t.

So to cut down on costs, I am forever making popcorn, granola and granola bars to bring for snacks, hiking and the airports.

Except this trip, my bag is mostly composed of Planet Protein bars.

These insanely hearty and filling, low- sugar, high protein bars (we’re talking over 20 grams per bar!), that are also sans palm-oil and non-GMO, are SO ideal for meal replacements while on the road or traveling. Prior to Costa Rica, I’ve been eating one before my early shifts at volunteering, when I don’t have time for breakfast. And they more than hold me over until I get back from work, three or four hours later. Which is rare for most protein bars, that still leave me hungry after eating one!

I am totally digging their peanut butter cup flavor, because obviously I am addicted to all things peanut butter. Though it’s on the denser side, it’s still smooth and somewhat creamy and has the consistency of a thick, oil-less PB or almond butter. The flavor is powerful and sweet,  which is only due to the addition  of  organic dates, organic cocoa and organic chocolate chips. Top-notch ingredients only, please 🙂

Though I’m not a HUGE fan of cherry, I did still enjoy their cherry almond fudge bar, which isn’t quite as sweet, and a little bit on the chalkier side. These ones are more ideal for energy levels and would make a prime hiking snack, rather than a meal replacement for me.

If you’re looking to try some new bars with high doses of protein, flavor and good-for-you ingredients, be on the look out for Planet Protein!
