Immunity Bombs

Cold and flu season is HERE. It seems like everyone I know is some type of sick right about now, and I’ve (thus far) evaded it. And I think I partially have these cute, nutrient-dense immunity bombs to thank.

I’ve seen some variation of these floating around on Instagram and I thought they were brilliant. Simple, effective ingredients that seem more potent than any store-bought herbal supplement and void of any potential synthetic chemicals.

And I mostly just wanted a reason to use these heart molds, that I originally bought a year ago to make homemade treats for my chickens. Happy to finally put them to good use!

With such strong ingredients from the ginger, lemon and turmeric, I was worried these wouldn’t taste great, or would be too overwhelming to drink. They’re actually super yummy, especially with a little extra honey-or maple syrup if you don’t do honey!

2 whole lemons, deseeded

1/2 large head of ginger (I didn’t measure, but I’d say about 1/3 size of the palm of your hand is what I used-but feel free to use less, and then add more after initial blend)

1/4 cup honey raw Manuka honey-I love New Zealand Honey Co. (or maple syrup/other liquid sweetener)

2 tbsp ground turmeric

1/8 tsp black pepper

Pinch of cayenne pepper and sea salt

2-3 cups water

  • Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender (definitely prefer Vitamix since the lemons and ginger stay unpeeled) and blend until smooth
  • Pour into individual molds (mine made 24 individual bombs, about 2 tbsp each
  • Freeze and then dissolve into 12 oz boiling water when using!
