You know how some people generally dub vegans as “dirty hippies”?
Sadly, I think I have become one-mostly because I do not use any fragranced, toxic body care products and well…sometimes that au natural smell is not so enticing. Thankfully, I’ve made some great body products out of baking sodas, vinegars and essential oils and they’ve all helped the stinky vegan issue. Making our own toothpaste, shampoo, face wash and hair mask has been cost-effective, fun to make and most importantly, chemical-free.
There’s only been one product I cannot seem to create a great recipe for-and that is deodorant.
I’ve tried essential oils, coconut oil, witch hazel, rubbing alcohol and even some really fancy, organic brands that cost like, $12 at Whole Foods. Nothing helped. I would sweat and I would stink. Which is not endearing, especially when you’re sweltering in the hot sun day in and day out.
And that’s where North Coast Organics came in.
I saw them featured over at My Plant-Based Family and was mostly just in awe of their adorable packaging (a revolver theme for the men’s version and a purple skull for the gals). I loved that they seems like they could “annihilate body odor” while still being organic, vegan and homemade. And when I received my own the other day, it was love at first smell.
It’s only been a few days since we’ve each been wearing our respective sticks and the difference is incredible. No sweating (even by the pool) and no stink after I’ve been running around all day. It’s really saving our relationship as Jim can really work up a stench after yoga (sorry, babe) and it makes it difficult to even want to hug him sometimes. Thank you North Coast Organics for making my boyfriend smell great!
Seriously though, I can’t praise these products enough and will be a lifelong user after this batch. And you can try some for yourself by entering our giveaway below! No more stinky vegans!
I haven’t made my own vegan body care products, but looking at your homemade body care tagged posts makes me want to try!
I really want to try making my deodorant. I haven’t been happy with any of the natural brands I’ve tried & I don’t want to continue using the toxic ones that actually work for this smelly runner/dirty hippy 🙂
Thanks so much for the awesome giveaway! I have tried to make my own deodorant with very little success. It was baking soda concoction and it really didn’t do much for me odor wise! I would love to try this out.
What a fun giveaway!
Instead of “dirty hippie”, I prefer the term “au naturale”. 🙂 I love that you make your own body products. I do that sometimes but, I guess out of habit, I sometimes like that good smelling vegan stuff from the stores too.
People don’t realize how cheap and great homemade stuff is! I almost cried when I researched the ingredients that were in even most of the “organic” products 🙁
I’ve never made anything homemade…but I do always try to use natural products like coconut oil.
I have never tried to make my own vegan body products, but definitely need to start doing it. I’m sure its cheaper and I would feel better about knowing exactly what ingredients I’m putting on my skin.
I love the packaging on these!! And the fact that they’re totally safe… obviously! 🙂
I love this stuff! I’ve gotten my MIL and girls at the gym hooked on it as well!
I just went back to unhealthy deodorant because I couldn’t find anything that really works…. so I must say I’m a bit of a skeptic, but would love to find one that actually works!
I’d love to make my own stuff, as soon as I find out whether or not it’s a feasible option.
I’ve made my own deodorant, but I wasn’t too impressed with it!

I use coconut oil for everything if that counts!
I’ve made my own deodorant before, but it wasn’t nearly as good as North Coast Organics! I love Death by Lavender!
I’ve been wanting to try this, it would be great to win it!
These Look Wonderful, I’d Love To Try!
Made several things when I was battling acne as a teen, but nothing lately. I unfortunately am not into that now and it’s great to see that your products are available. Thanks!
i haven’t
Haven’t tried it yet!
I made deodorant with coconut oil and baking soda.
I’m so glad you like it! I love it! I even wear the Revolver sometimes. I think I may like it more than the lavender. I’m going to share this with all my social media.
Im so glad you blogged about it first so I knew about them-thank you!!
I have not tried to make my own products yet, but I would love to!!
No I haven’t but I really want to!! I plan on making shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and room spray!
