Rabbit Food & Tree Bark-New Vegan Menu at Jerry Remy’s Bar & Grill!

A year ago, I dined at Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar & Grill with some of my friends after spending the day in Boston. Like most sports bars, they revolved around burgers, steaks and all things NOT vegan. I had to settle for a tiny side salad and some french fries (which were delicious, but could hardly be considered a meal).

Fast forward to this past weekend and I find myself at Remy’s again. But this time I am drowning in lots of incredible vegan fare, all of them innovative and creative. Kale salads, mouthwatering burgers and mountains of tofu and cashew cheeses cover the table and I can hardly contain my excitement over the plethora of options they now have.

Their aptly named Rabbit Food & Tree Bark menu was just released earlier this month and has stellar meals that rival any vegan restaurant I’ve ever been to. Their head chef, Justin Blais, has done a truly impressive job at adapting their usually carnivorous menu to please their vegetarian/vegan patrons, as the demand for animal-free options steadily increases. Coming from a vegan chef, I was completely shocked at the dishes he’s created, especially the elaborate salads, and the insanely awesome Tempeh Reuben with sauerkraut and soy mozzarella.

“I first glanced at several, well-known vegan restaurant menus so I could get a sense of how those chefs ‘balanced’ their menus since I hadn’t been a regular guest at vegan places. I was looking for how they might have used various protein substitutes, the amount of salads vs. wraps or sandwiches vs. entrees, etc,” says Blais on the research he put into developing a great plant-based menu that even seasoned vegans will love.

I can’t express how thrilled I am to see Remy’s embrace the need for vegan options, especially since Boston sports teams are doing so well right now. Between the Sox, Bruins and Pats kicking some major butt these days, it’s such a relief to know there are crazy delicious meal options for me when I want to hit the bar and camp out at Remy’s for the day. Enough with the talking though-let’s get to the good stuff…the food pictures!

(Pictured above: Balsamic Garbanzo and Tofu Ricotta Cheese. Absolutely delicious and rather different, since I’d never paired chickpeas and balsamic vinegar together before.)

(Pictured above: Tempeh Reuben Sandwich. This is my absolute favorite and even with all my other samples, I still inhaled this entire sandwich. It’s got sauerkraut, soy mozzarella and soy Thousand Island dressing. I bet all the meat-eaters at Remy’s would fall in love with this one!)

(Pictured above: Miso Tofu Feta and Kale Salad. Hands down, one of the most AMAZING salads I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The balance of flavors is really incredible and I also tried to scarf this whole thing down before I even tried anything else.)

(Pictured above: Hearts of Palm and Roasted Beet Salad. This one is extremely creative and I loved the pairing of the beets and artichoke hearts with the cucumbers, pine nuts and pomegranate seeds.)

(Pictured above: Quinoa Taboulleh Wrap. Pretty standard vegan option, but it was still REALLY yummy, especially with the herb roasted vegetables on the side.)

(Pictured above: Kale & Crisp Apple Salad. Another fabulous kale dish that has so many depths of flavor from the apples, peppers, cucumbers, toasted almonds, avocado and lemon vinaigrette.)

  1. Holy moly, everything looks amazing! What a change this restaurant has made. That’s really impressive. It truly is a sign (I hope) that times are changing in favor of veganism.

  2. Wow that’s impressive! I think it’s awesome that a very non-vegan friendly restaurant brought in so many creative vegan dishes, I would love to see some restaurants do that here. I’m seriously craving a Reuben right now.

  3. It’s so exciting! Everywhere is learning that vegetarianism/veganism is the way of the future and even the most carnivorous places are adapting 🙂

  4. Its so awesome! It makes me extremely happy 🙂
