How many times have I mentioned that I’ve fallen into the terrible habit of neglecting to feed myself in the midst of feeding all my clients?
Too often, I think.
I used to juice every day and felt like I was making up for all the food I was missing out on. I felt good about squeezing two or three pounds of veggies into a single green drink. So efficient, so yummy and I felt like I was nourishing myself quickly and easily…until I got lazy and too busy to even get around to juicing on a consistent basis. And you know me…I’m gonna blame that on all the fun I had this summer. But now that the fall is here, I’m legitimately busy with so many cooking classes and events and still haven’t put my juicer back to work.
And instead, I’ve been eating these nutrient-packed ENEERGYbits. Because as much nutrition as I’d get from a juice, these teeny algae tablets are packed with even more raw, organic, goodness.
My ex boyfriend (yeah, Jim, remember him?) used to be FANATICAL about eating spirulina and chorella every day. And I felt so great when I took them. It was just super expensive to do daily, and I’m not big on supplements because I always forget to take them. But now that I’ve tried these non-GMO tabs that are loaded with 40 different nutrients, and had them in the peak of my busy season-I may just get back into the habit.
They’re “It’s OK To Swallow” packaging also caught my attention, as I’m a sucker for slightly obscene things. The packages recommend taking 30 tabs at a time, as a meal replacement or when you need a super boost…I took it when I needed both. It did take me a few gulps to get them down, but I was pleased that they had virtually no taste and no terrible aftertaste like I recall the cholrella and spirulina tabs having. I used to get ridiculous (and gross) burps after taking them years ago, but I felt no yucky side effects of ENERGYbits. And they 100% made me forget about feeling hungry as I rushed through the rest of my day. I went for an extra long run that day too, so I credit the algae on that one! Did I mention 1 kg of the tabs is equivalent to 1000 kg of fruits and vegetables? That is some serious nutrition.
For $115 a bag ( a month’s supply) you would think it wasn’t a great deal. But the daily serving size only breaks down to $2.80 a day , which is roughly what I spend on Cliff or Kind bars on a daily basis. It’s also a third of the cost of my daily beloved Suja drink. And granola bars and a juice are FAR from being a fraction of the nutrition of ENERGYbits.

that 3pm drag at work!
How ’bout EVERYDAY? I’m a commuting college student, and I feel so drained when I come home from classes that riding the subway is like torture. Energy bites= bring me back to life!
Excited to finally give these things a shot!
Before my morning gym classes! I don’t eat breakfast before exercising and try to limit coffee intake if I’m hitting the gym early before work during the week.
