Fall Season Cooking Class Recap

With all my classes recently, I am lacking a little in the new recipe department. So instead, I’d like to reflect on some of my recent classes and group sessions to give you all a glimpse into what I really do-because this has been my busiest and most successful teaching season to date! And because who doesn’t love a picture-centric post?

HOPEFULLY you’ll want to host a Vegan Pact event or attend one of my cooking classes yourself once you see how much fun I’ve been having with these classes! Don’t forget to check us out at Johnson Compounding and Wellness this Saturday, the 8th at 11 am for our healthy snacks demo, at the Whole Foods Medford on November 19th at 7 pm for a Thanksgiving demo and the Whole Foods Symphony in Boston for another holiday tasting, on December 9th.

MINUTEMAN SESSIONS

This six week series at Minuteman is going better than I could have ever possibly imagined. I’ve been blessed with an amazing group of students, all taking the class for different reasons. Some people come because they have vegan children they don’t know how to cook for. Some have come because they’re battling health issues. Some are already vegan looking for new recipe ideas. And some have absolutely no intention of giving up meat, but simply want to learn how to make veggies taste better. And I love them all the same! Everyone has been so much fun, so kind to one another, and everyone has quickly made new friends. I laugh throughout the entire class and look forward to seeing this incredible group every Thursday night. I will be back at Minuteman in the winter and spring for another series, so if you didn’t make it to this one, check their registration soon to attend! Our favorite meals so far have been buffalo cauliflower wings and EVERYTHING at our Thanksgiving night-including green bean casserole, millet stuffed delicatas, kale and cauliflower mashed potatoes, Brussels sprout, apple and butternut squash stuffing and pumpkin spice nog from So Delicious.

IN-HOME GIRLS NIGHT GROUP SESSION

My FAVORITE type of cooking session is an in-home group party. Probably because it usually includes us drinking wine and having a blast 🙂 But seriously, spending an afternoon or evening in someone’s home is alot more laid, back less structured, and so much fun! I always meet an awesome group of ladies and my recent lessons have been no different. And I was totally impressed by this health-conscious group last weekend and learned alot from them, as well.

CABOT PARK VILLAGE DEMO

The last group of people in the world who I would think would be interested in a vegan cooking demo, would be the elderly. A generation raised on eating whatever was available to them, even if it was just bread or potatoes, is not exactly a crowd I would think I would appeal to. Most senior citizens think that I’m being picky or ungrateful by limiting what I eat (though I obviously don’t feel that way) and I honestly was a little nervous for this event I did at an assisted living facility where a networking group I used to be a part of held their meetings. To my surprise, after they asked what a vegan was approximately 6 million times, they were extremely interested and accepting of what I had to share with them. They may have just enjoyed all the free goodies and the company, but they turned out to be my most unique teaching experience to date. And now, they’re demanding that their in-house chef make green smoothies for breakfast and include more chia seeds in their meals 🙂
