ANOTHER vegan spot to open in Boston!?
Doing my happy dance for all the plant-based spots opening up around me!
Taco Party is a vegan food truck, specializing in, DUH, all vegan tacos, that recently opened a storefront in Somerville. Tempeh, seitan, tofu, sweet potato and jackfruit variations grace their short, but sweet, menu. Nachos with sunflower seed cheese, chips and guac or chips and pinto bean dip are also up for grabs.
Maybe I just hyped it up too much, but the tacos themselves left a bit to be desired. I tried the seitan and jackfruit versions and they were lacking in flavor, small in size and came prepared with minimal toppings. The pinto bean dip was also super bland, though their chips were delish. I really wish I had tried ALL the tacos, just to see how the others stacked up. But considering jackfruit and tofu tacos are the tastiest-and easiest-to whip up at home, I was surprised their versions were fairly lackluster.
But the donuts….oh the donuts.
I came to Taco party for (obviously), the tacos, but I will absolutely be back for their baked goods. Cupcakes, cookies, bars and donuts to be exact. I am clearly a severe addict and bought not one, not two, but THREE of their incredible donuts. They all looked simply amazing and I admittedly held up the line for awhile just trying to make a decision. I went with the chocolate spirnkled, cookies & cream and the white chocolate matcha. I WAS IN HEAVEN. The matcha was downright life-changing. And while I’ve had many a vegan cookies & cream donut in my life, this one was certainly one of the best I’ve ever had. Why can’t donuts be healthier for me? I could seriously live off of them.
So though, my first taco experience at Taco Party was less than stellar, my dessert (breakfast?) takeaway was an extremely positive one. And I’m hopeful that my next visit will be ever better!
