Thanks to my friend Evan for letting me know about the amazingness that is The Juice Box in Southie!
I’m always on the lookout for new awesome juice bars around Boston, and I was shocked I had somehow missed The Juice Box. Evan lives and works right across the street, and is slowly, but surely broadening his horizons and including lots of vegetarian and vegan meals into his diet. I’ve taken him to both Walnut Grille and Red Lentil and he now loves them both even more than I do. And now, he’s returned the favor by turning me onto The Juice Box.
It’s a cute spot, right on West Broadway-extra points for actually having some street parking in Boston! With high ceilings, walls adorned with brightly colored paintings and an extensive dispensary of acai bowl toppings, this place screams vibrant energy. I expected to see typical juice, smoothies and bowls, but I was totally impressed with their assortment of flavor combos I’ve never seen offered at other places. Pina Colada, PB & J, a chia seed acai berry version dubbed 02127 and four additional fall/seasonal/pumpkin were all smoothies that I was absolutely intrigued by and will be back for soon. Their juices were also pretty unique-my friend Ashley and I went with Hulks-kale, spinach, mint, pineapple, apple and coconut water. Which is pretty standard, but it was absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced. I REALLY wanted to try their Namaste, which is a blend of sweet potato, apple, orange, carrot, lemon and cinnamon, but went with the Hulk simply because I was in desperate need of some greens.
They also offer an assortment of healthy snacks to go, and loaded acai bowls, that Evan is currently addicted to and gets every morning. Pitaya seems to be the focal point of many of them, which I love, because I don’t often see that at other spots.
I’m dying to try one of their juice cleanses, which are also EXTREMELY well priced, so stay tuned for that. And in the meantime, get down to The Juice Box and tell them The Vegan Pact (and friends) sent you! 🙂
