Product Review: Tasterie Box

So I know that there are TONS of different monthly subscription boxes out there available for dietary restrictions of all types. Gluten-free, vegan, nut-free, organic, even beauty boxes, seem to be super popular right now. Every social media ad I seem to come across is for these packages toting a surprise delivery of goodies based on your preferences. I’ve been tempted to buy a lot of them, but most of them seem to have a high price tag. I’m semi-conscious when it comes to spending cash (except when I’m at Whole Foods or when Justin Timberlake concert tickets are available), so it took me awhile to take the jump into treating myself to one.

Once I had tax money in hand, I decided to buy myself a little gift in the form of a vegan snack box from Tasterie. They’re locally based, moderately priced and include free shipping. Sign me up!

While some companies carry a hefty price tag and only cater to one or two various allergies/dietary needs, I can appreciate the fact that Tasterie boxes have a dozen different boxes to choose from, available in their larger “Signature Box” ($25) or a “Snack Box” ($18). And considering I’ve been flirting with the idea of cutting out gluten (OK, not completely-I could never give up bagels), I think I see a vegan/gluten-free Tasterie box in my near future.

I wish my box of yummy snacks lasted longer than a day. I have to admit, I ate almost the whole thing in 24 hours, and that’s why I only have a quick camera phone shot of the box itself. It’s not easy coming across vegan snacks that taste so superb, so yeah, I went a little overboard in my sampling. Although, I guess you can’t call it sampling when you eat two chocolate covered almond caramel bars in one sitting. Those were my favorite though, the Eli’s Organic Earth Bars. It resembles a healthy version of a Snickers, which made me VERY happy. The Eden’s brown rice chips were equally addictive and I found myself munching on them as my dessert after dinner for two nights. I also really enjoyed the Love Force raw vegan organic energy bars, because they resembled my own version of Coconut Cranberry Bars-except better and I didn’t have to make them myself! Other less exciting, but equally delicious goodies, included multi-grain crackers and cute little hummus-to-go packets. The ONLY item I wasn’t impressed by was the Pirate’s Booty. Maybe other people would be excited about it, but I was hoping for an item I generally don’t see at every grocery store.

For $15 (they usually have a deal happening if you “like” them on Facebook), I have to say I more than got my money’s worth of vegan snacks. The energy and chocolate bars alone were well worth the investment, and I really love the idea of getting a surprise in the mail every month. Because I deserve a little gift from myself every now and then, and I certainly would love to see a Tasterie box on my doorstep every few weeks 🙂
