Turmeric lattes were always one of those things that I misjudged. I love, love, love them, but I would never order them at a cafe. My thought was always “it’s just turmeric, cinnamon and some sweetener in almond milk, too easy not to just make at home”.
And that’s typically been true ever since golden milks became a thing. I’ve always found it easier and tastier to make them myself.
Until I discovered A Cup of Sun while I was in Telluride this summer. Their bright and cheery gold drinks were deliciously smooth and sweet, with a subtle kick from the black pepper. Because we all know that black pepper helps to activate the bodies ability to absorb the nutrients in turmeric, right? Well, if you didn’t know, now you do! Most store or cafe bought turmeric lattes are lacking in the black pepper department, so I really appreciate that A Cup of Sun recognized that it HAD to be a part of their formula.
Just opening the jar smells like absolute heaven-warm, spicy, sweet and soothing. This aruyvedic latte paste is loaded with all organic cinnamon, ginger, coconut oil, cardamom, black pepper, ashwaghanda and chaga, making it a nutritional power house and a great way to start your day. It does also contain organic honey, which I know is a touchy subject for a lot of vegans, so just be conscious of that, if it’s a cause for concern! All ingredients are also non-GMO and made in small batches, right here in Colorado.
All you gotta do is drop a teaspoon of paste into 8 oz of non-dairy milk, warm, and that’s it! It also works amazing as the base for a banana, carrot and hemp smoothie. Super simple, insanely yummy, and it makes for a much sunnier day 🙂Â
A Cup of Sun is available at local shops throughout Telluride, including my favorite, Ghost Town Coffee, so make sure to stop by if you’re in the area! You can also order jars for your own kitchen on their Etsy shop.
