NuGo Bars Review

If the lack of posts recently weren’t a clear indication that my life has once again fallen into the insanely hectic category, this post is.

Spring is almost always my busiest time for teaching and with the addition of some new schools, some new classes, new clients and an influx of home sessions, my life has revolved around teaching others to eat healthy,

Meanwhile, guess who hardly has any time to eat during the workweek?

THIS GIRL.

So again, I default to my soups and smoothies and whatever leftovers I get for class. And so my discovery of NuGo Nutrition Bars, has quite literally, been a godsend.

I’ve been keeping these delicious bars stashed in my car, my yoga mat, my laptop bag, EVERYWHERE, and they make for a surprisingly filling snack that sometimes has to substitute as a meal.

And let’s be honest-who wouldn’t want a yummy, chocolate covered coconut bar for a meal if they had to? Especially one that’s vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO and high protein. Oh, and they’re palm oil free and made entirely of pure cocoa and cocoa butter and free of any synthetic or artificial flavors.

They’re extremely dense and rich, and, this might sound weird, but they take a lot of effort to chew. Which is always important to me (maybe I’m a weirdo, but I hope I’m not the only one who feels this way). Just the act of chewing such big, hearty bars, keeps me full and satisfied and I’m much more conscious of when I’m getting full. Most of the time, I can eat half a bar and feel like I just ate a huge meal. So in reality, it’s like getting two for the price of one. More bang for your buck! Another reason to love them 🙂

Here’s a rundown of the flavors I tried. I’m gonna go ahead and spoil it for you, and insist that wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, go out and find a NuGo chocolate covered pretzel bar. IMMEDIATELY.

CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZEL

You had me at pretzel! Pretzels are their own food group, in my eyes. And I’m a sucker for anything that pairs sweet and savory together well. They nailed it on this one. It was by far, my favorite and the salt from the pretzel goes so perfectly with the rich, sweetness of the chocolate. 5 STARS!

CHOCOLATE COCONUT

Coconut being one of the favorite ingredients (aside from pretzels), made this the obvious runner up. It tasted the least sweet of the bunch, which is perfect for me, since I’m naturally not very interested in desserts or anything that tastes overy sugary. For some reason, I would dub this one the “healthiest” tasting, even though they’re all equally healthy!

MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP

Confession: I hate mint. So I tried this one last, thinking I wasn’t going to be a big fan of it. And I was wrong. I generally feel like mint should be reserved for toothpaste and gum only, but I shockingly enjoyed this bar. It wasn’t super heavy on the mint flavoring and I found it oddly refreshing. Almost like I had just brushed my teeth or chewed gum? Whatever the reason, I actually ended up eating all the mint bars first!

CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE CHIP

This one was kind of redundant. Just having that one level of flavor, didn’t really overwhelm or excite me, but it was FOR SURE, still very tasty. I just like some depth and variation in my bars and this one was a little one-sided and the sweetest. If you are a huge chocolate lover though, you’re definitely going to enjoy this one!
