Meta Burger

Colorado vegans, rejoice! Meta Burger in Denver is finally opened!

This burger haven, is a no-frills, insanely delicious and decadent addition to the vegan food scene here. Owners Mike Reeves and Matt Coates have already perfected the plant-based burger/hot dog game in a short period of time. Due in part to their experience in the restaurant scene, specifically managing Boulder’s Native Foods, they’ve been able to pinpoint how to create a fast, tasty vegan experience, making their food convenient, but consistently delicious. Their goal is to be the ultimate vegan fast-food spot, and they are well on their way. They’ve recognized that having a solid, smaller menu is crucial, and that doing just a few items really, REALLY well, you can feed more people, faster, and more efficiently.

How fast you ask? I timed them just to make sure it was legit. And my massive burger and hot dog were both on my table in under 6 minutes!

Their menu is loaded with incredible burger, hot dog and ice cream variations. that would fool any non-vegan. Their burgers especially, are stacked with insane, customizable toppings ranging from the burger basics, to things like chili cheese and BBQ soy curls. Their Godfather burger boasts grilled mushrooms, pesto, giardiniera and lettuce, while their Island burger is piled with grilled pineapple, mahalo cream cheese, teriyaki bacon and pickled red onions. Another fan favorite is the Southwestern, with guac, corn salsa and southwest mayo. The homemade burgers themselves are absolutely delicious, having the tasty texture and consistently as a Beyond Burger, but even superior in flavor, and especially in terms of nutrition. While the Meta burger has just 110 calories, 2 g of fat and 22 g of protein, the Beyond Burger has 270 calories, a whopping 20 g of fat and 20 g of protein. Beyond Burger, I still love you, I swear! The Meta version are soy-based, but they’ve got the gluten-free, soy-free vegans covered as well, with an alternative garden patty.

And the dogs! The hot dogs, though not made in house, are the perfect portion, with some equally awesome toppings like chili cheese, habanero jam or a classic Chicago style. They’ve also got some delectable sides to pair them with, like waffle cheese fries, loaded nachos and breaded potato bites.

I opted for the Texas burger, which was dripping with BBQ soy curls, creamy coleslaw, pickles and ranch, which was the perfect choice for me. It was massive, mouth-watering and hit every flavor note imaginable. Their chili cheese dogs were also on point, boasting a bold, savory, nacho cheese sauce that was smothered over every bite.

At this point, after eating all that food, you think you’d be too full for dessert, right?

WRONG.

I couldn’t resist getting one of their signature Meta Blasts that come in rich flavors like banana split, cookies and cream and chocolate peanut butter. I, loving salty and sweet combos, had to get the salted caramel pretzel, which was almost too good to describe. The best part of all this seemingly “unhealthy” food, was that I didn’t feel like crap after. I love any good, greasy, fried, faux meat restaurant, but that typically means I walk away feeling less than stellar. But at Meta, that didn’t happen. I felt perfectly full and satisfied, without feeling bloated and gross.

Meta Burger is a don’t miss, people! Check out their spot OR order them on DoorDash!
