The Bumbling Bee Vegan Junk Food

For those of you begging, pleading, PRAYING for a spectacular vegan option in Boulder…your day has finally arrived.

I have been in Boulder off and on for almost four years and I am still in awe of how pathetic the plant-based options are. Sure, we have a couple spots for great salads or Beyond Burgers (Under the Sun obviously being the best), but overall, it’s sad. Our only REAL veg eateries up until this moment have been Native Foods (overall, garbage) and Leaf (sometimes good, mostly just medicore).

And then The Bumbling Been Vegan Junk Food came to town and blew everyone else out of the water.

Their menu boasts tons of elaborate burgers, over-the-top sides, INSANE milkshakes and a whole mess of fried, junky deliciousness. So if you’re looking for healthy salads, gluten-free options of low calorie options, don’t even bother.

This plant-based heaven is a family affair, with owner Cassandra leading the reigns and daughter Olivia helping out. They’ve also got another Bumbling Bee AND food truck in Virginia, which is where this vegan comfort food endeavor began.

I always, ALWAYS get stressed out when there are too many amazing meal options and with the extensive menu list at The Bee, I let them make the decision for me because it was simply just to difficult to choose.

They started me off with a ridiculously decadent milkshake, that I almost didn’t even know how to tackle at first. It was overflowing with their original milkshake blend, whipped cream and chocolate sauce and I inhaled it quickly as to not let it ooze all over the floor. Even though, I happily probably would have licked it off the floor, because it was that freaking good.

And if that wasn’t filling enough, they then served me their massive Brunch Betty Bakun and Eggs burger which boasts fried chickn, Just Egg, fake bacon, caramelized onions. cheese sauce, tomato and arugula. Likely, one of the messiest things I’ve ever consumed, it was also one of the most mind-blowing. Every aspect of it was PERFECT. It didn’t hurt that they also paired it with some of their rich, savory housemade poutine. Because if there’s one thing I’m lacking in my life, it’s vegan poutine.

As full as I was when I was finished, I was still eyeballing some of their “wickets” (think, hand pies, like pizza pockets), their extensive assortment of customizable Beyond Burgers, their nachos, their buffalo cauliflower wings and their Coney Island hot dogs. The options are endless. And they’ve got a rotating secret menu, that my friend was enjoying while I was there. ON this particular day it was a scarily legit Cuban that was seriously mouthwatering.

You can’t go wrong with any choice at The Bee, so please, please, please go and show them some love, and thank me later! 🙂
