Good Clean Food Delivered

Whoa, whoa, WHOA.

I still exist?! I betcha think I didn’t anymore. Can’t say I blame ya either.

Rather than give you a long-winded update, I’ll summarize for you-2020 is a nightmare, in case you weren’t already painfully aware.

In addition to all the Covid, BLM, political chaos we’re ALL experiencing, life has not been particularly kind to me over the last 5 months. Some heavy personal stuff, losing some friends, an abrupt move, being without 99% of my work/jobs and 100% of my travel plans, has left me less than thrilled. On the flipside, I got more hiking/camping time than I ever have in Colorado, am dating the MOST wonderful guy and baked approximately one million loaves of bread, perfected homemade bagels and gained myself a little thriving homemade edibles business. So basically, carbs are the only real winners this year, and I guess I’m not totally mad about that.

Somewhere along the line though, I got SUPER sick of cooking and making EVERYTHING from scratch. But I also have zero interest in going out to eat still, and always feel like take-out is way overpriced. WHAT’S A GIRL TO DO?

I took way too much time to preface this, but Good Clean Food was my saving grace for a week, in between dogsitting, moving and working at Whole Foods (oh yeah, I probably didn’t mention that I had to succumb to that mid April). They’re a completely organic, plant-based, gluten-free, insanely filling and oh yeah, DELICIOUS meal delivery company, serving the Boulder and Denver area. Which is totally brilliant for our current state, since I’m willing to bet most people still don’t want to deal with the long lines and headaches of grocery stores (myself included!).

I was a huge fan of their packaging system from the start. Any company I’ve ever ordered pre-made meals from, comes in tons of unsustainable packaging, with lots of Styrofoam and plastic. Everything from GCF comes in glass jars, that they deliver right to your door, and then pick back up when you’re done to reuse. And although they give you a ton of food, they’ve managed to perfectly portion it out with just a few jars, and a couple of compostable cups, which really eased my eco-conscious mind.

They’ve got you covered from breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and even dessert, and each portion was almost too big for just myself, though I was pleased to have lots of leftovers. The salads are vibrant, beautiful, well-balanced and really congruent with the season. Everything was satisfying in this Colorado heat, and almost none of it had to be warmed or cooked, which is a real win for me right now. Their fajita salad and Thai tofu lettuce wraps were the real win for me, even though they’re nutrient dense beet quinoa salad and butternut squash salad were equally nourishing. And their creamy, summer corn soup? A dream!

I have to admit, their smoothies were SO simple, but crazy good for some reason. I did need to supplement at breakfast, as a smoothie would never fill me up, but the lunch and dinner portions more than offset the smaller smoothie size. I am 1000% addicted to their peanut butter chia mousse with chocolate granola, and I don’t even like chia in the slightest! My absolute highlight of the entire week was this nut-based, gluten-free brownie. I can’t even remember what was in it, but it was probably the BEST brownie I’ve ever had in my life. If they offered a meal plan with just desserts, I would fully indulge on that.

Their ever evolving menu seems to get tastier as the weeks go by, so if you’d like to treat yo’ self a little, skip the grocery stores and enjoy some uber-healthy vegan eats, email me and I can get you a $50 off code! Highlights for next week’s menu include such deliciousness as Cauliflower Kung Pao, Sushi Salad, Summer Tacos, Mac Nut + Red Pepper Divinity Dip, Strawberry Mousse Chia Pudding and much more.
