Microtea Review

All teas are not created equal. Some have natural flavoring, are full of pesticides and overall, lack in flavor and actual nutrition.

Microtea though…is next level.

This local tea brand is not only full of beautiful flavors, but they’re insanely healthy for you. In addition to their organic herbal blends, they’re bursting with microgreens, which I’ve personally never seen in a tea before. For those of you who don’t know, microgreens are baby vegetables (specifically broccoli greens in Microtea) harvested at 10-14 days old, making them a pure superfood, and 40x more concentrated in minerals, nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants. So even if you eat like complete garbage some days, adding this powerhouse tea to your diet would boost your overall nutrition for the day!

Their main three flavors also include a host of other super healthy ingredients. Their Relax blend boasts a calming mix of chamomile, lemon peel, lemon balm, lemongrass and sage, and ALSO includes full-spectrum CBD, which y’all know, I am addicted to. The spicy/sweet Recovery mix is full of turmeric, lemon myrtle, ginger, tulsi and peppercorns and has been my favorite in soups and savory dishes, especially after a long hike, when I’m in need of some anti-inflammatory care. Their Focus is pure jasmine green tea and broccoli microgreens, which has quickly replaced my morning cup of coffee, since it’s also got a good dose of natural caffeine.

Besides being Boulder-based, owner Stephen Cowan’s pure passion and unmatched knowledge in all things plants, was enough to get me hooked on his tea. His extensive background in understanding all facets of plant nutrition makes him both a wealth of knowledge, and a super enthusiastic proponent of bringing health and wellness to the masses through the magic that is Microtea.

Though I got a little creative with some of them, the green Jamsine Focus tea, was best enjoyed as is, in the morning with extra honey.

For the Recovery variation, I decided to use it in a savory dish, since it’s ingredients of turmeric, ginger and lemon matched perfectly with this garlic/ginger/turmeric dense veggie I’ve been making every week. I steeped a tea strainer full of the tea into each bowl and though the flavor melded seamlessly into the soup, I was happy to know I had a major nutrient boost with the Mircotea.

I was super excited to use the CBD Relax in a more unique way. I’m always one to add weird things to my bath in order to boost my recovery time. I’m in training for a backpacking trip, and with all the recent snow, my hikes have been brutal. Adding this CBD tea to a soak really was a game changer. I felt much better than when I just use my usual Epsom salts and the smell was INCREDIBLE and so soothing. And post-bath, you could really see how gorgeous the rehydrated flowers were 🙂

However you choose to indulge in Microtea, make sure to find them locally around Boulder or order some online!
